Búzios is a peninsula with beaches on both sides of a narrow strip of land, and a speedboat is the efficient way to see them. They sit close together, so moving quickly between them means three or four stops in half a day — including coves with no road access at all.

The usual format is a private charter of four to eight hours with a skipper included and the boat reserved for your group alone — no sharing the deck with strangers. You choose the departure time, and the skipper shapes the route around the sea and wind that day.
Búzios is small enough that the itinerary stays flexible. Tell the skipper whether you want busy beaches with kiosks or quiet coves, and the day is planned around that. The water on the sheltered side is unusually clear and calm, so even a half-day covers a lot of ground.
Itineraries often include Azeda and Azedinha, two small connected coves with clear water, and João Fernandes and João Fernandinho, the beaches most associated with snorkelling in Búzios. Praia da Tartaruga is another frequent call, along with Ferradura, a horseshoe bay that stays flat almost all year, and Ossos, the old fishing harbour at the town end of the peninsula.
Further out, some routes pass Ilha Feia, Ilha Branca and Ilha Rasa, the rocky islands popular with divers. Longer charters can continue down the coast toward Arraial do Cabo.
Possible boarding points include the pier area at Praia da Armação, near the centre of town, and the marinas around Manguinhos on the bay side. The exact departure point depends on the boat and is confirmed before your charter. Some piers charge a small boarding fee paid locally.

High season runs from November to April, and New Year and Carnival book out months ahead. May, June and October usually combine good weather, quiet beaches and better availability — Búzios works year-round, but it’s more enjoyable off-season.
