Caixa d’Aço is a sheltered cove next to Porto Belo, on the coast of Santa Catarina: deep, clear water protected from swell by the hills around it. It’s one of those places that makes sense from a boat — road access is limited, and from the water you see immediately why the cove has the reputation it does.
We list boats operating from this area, with private charters and a skipper included on most of them. Prices are in Brazilian reais (BRL), and payment terms are confirmed with each quote.
Pick a boat below and send us your date, group size and preferred route.
The usual format is a private charter of four to eight hours with a skipper included and the boat reserved for your group alone. You choose the departure time, and the skipper shapes the route around the sea and wind that day.
The cove itself is both the starting point and often one of the stops: the water stays calm even when there’s swell outside, which makes it a comfortable anchorage for swimming and for eating on board without motion.
Ilha de Porto Belo sits just offshore, with a well-known circuit around it and decent snorkelling. To the south begins the Bombinhas peninsula, with small coves such as Sepultura, Tainha and the Quatro Ilhas stretch, all separated by rocky headlands and quicker to reach by sea than by road.
Northward, the coast runs toward Balneário Camboriú, whose skyline shows in the distance, past the quiet beaches between the two towns. Longer charters can head out toward the Arvoredo archipelago, a marine biological reserve with restricted access controlled by authorised operators — worth checking with our team rather than assuming a landing.
High season runs from December to March, when the region’s population multiplies and the cove fills with boats. Water clarity is generally best in the warmer months, though it swings with wind and swell week to week. April, May and October usually combine good weather, empty anchorages and much better availability.
Charters depend on sea conditions. If the forecast turns, our team gets in touch to reschedule.
A skipper is included on most boats. Fuel, food, drinks, snorkelling gear and extra hours vary by boat and are confirmed with our team in each quote. Some boats offer overnight charters, with multi-day itineraries along the coast on request.
